About the School Counselor
Ms. Gutierrez has been a school counselor for 10 years; 6 of those years she has served the school community at New Pathways Academy. She received a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology, and a Master’s Degree in Mental Health Counseling from Mercy College. While pursuing her degrees, she worked at a residential mental health agency in New York City. From this experience, she decided to self-certify as a school counselor so that it would allow her the opportunity to cultivate an environment where students grow and develop meaningful skills that will motivate change, healing, and success in every facet of students’ personal and educational experience. While working as a school counselor, she also completed her practicum as a therapist at New York Psychotherapy and Counseling Center in the Bronx for three years.
