About Us

NEW PATHWAYS ACADEMY, A COMMUNITY SCHOOL:

New Pathways Academy aims to educate and serve the whole child by fulfilling students’ physical, mental, socio-emotional and academic needs. As a community school, NPA provides a wealth of services and supports in eight areas: parent engagement, attendance improvement, after-school enrichment, academic support, youth development, health and social services, community development, and robust instruction. In partnership with Center for Supportive Schools (our lead community-based partner,) NPA’s Community School Director facilitates the collaborative process of developing and implementing the continuum of services we provide for children, families and community members.

HEALTH AND SOCIAL SERVICES:

As part of our community school strategy, New Pathways Academy enables all students to access a Montefiore school-based health center, where they can receive physical, emotional, dental and vision services, as well as immunizations. In addition, our school partners with Astor Services for Children and Families to host a mental health clinic on-site, with clinicians who are ready to provide long-term counseling as well as wrap-around services for students and families.

COMPREHENSIVE SCHOOL COUNSELING PROGRAM

COUNSELING PROGRAM MISSION STATEMENT:

At New Pathways Academy, we are dedicated to ensuring the achievement of all students through academic, social-emotional, and career success.

COUNSELING BELIEFS:

Taking into account students’ individual needs and allowing them to be active participants throughout their learning and social/emotional experience, allows them to develop a sense of autonomy as well as self-healing. Differences among students should be recognized and respected; one must be aware of and be supporting of all students’ personal outlooks, their values, beliefs and preferences, as this will assist them in identifying and building on specific skills they may already possess.

New Pathways Academy is responsible to teach all students to value education and life-long learning. All students are steered to develop the attitudes, knowledge, and skills to be college and career ready. Our school provides an environment where Perseverance, Accountability, Thoughtfulness and Honesty are learned and practiced.

A COMPREHENSIVE SCHOOL COUNSELING PROGRAM:
