Who is Mr. Delgado?
I was born and raised in the Bronx. My parents are from Puerto Rico and arrived to NYC in the 1960s. I love literature, poetry, art and music. I'm an avid reader and tend to buy too many books at one time. My favorite authors are Richard Wright, Piri Thomas, and James Baldwin. I believe in the power of reading and writing. I understand the importance of education and the need for great teachers to inspire students in The Bronx.
I grew up in The Bronx and understand how instrumental it is to get a quality education to prepare you for the future. It was crucial for me to get the academic groundwork and discipline so that I could break the cycle of poverty. I have been able to overcome obstacles in spite of my individual circumstance.
It's incredibly important that our students are motivated and see their potential for greatness! I will continue to promote and teach them the value of education. New York City students deserve a quality education that would be instrumental in their growth and sets the foundation needed to succeed in higher education and beyond. The cornerstone for their future success depends on the promotion of critical thinking, literacy, mathematics, and science. I believe that guidance, structure, and inspiration has proven to be advantageous to young learners. Education will always play a critical role towards economic and social mobility; students in New York City deserve the opportunity to a quality education that is focused on structure and an array of academic disciplines.
